Small and medium-sized OLED panels are in hot demand. South Korean panel factory LG display (LGD) has decided to use the E6 plant in Paju, South Korea, to produce OLEDs. The production capacity of small and medium-sized OLEDs is expected to double every year.

LGD personnel revealed that P10 will be a specialized production base for OLED, and LCD panels will not be manufactured in the factory, South Korean business Korea reported on the 22nd. Due to the tight demand of small and medium-sized OLED panels, LGD will focus on mass production of small and medium-sized OLEDs and strive to double the annual capacity.

According to the report, LGD plans to produce 15000 sets of small and medium-sized OLED panels in the E5 plant in 2017, 15000 sets of small and medium-sized OLEDs in the sixth generation line of E6 plant in 2018, and 30000 sets of small and medium-sized OLEDs in the sixth generation line of E6 or P10 plant in 2019.

In terms of large-scale OLEDs, P10 has not yet decided to produce liquid crystal or OLED. Now it seems that it will fully turn to OLED. It is expected that it will invest in 8.5-generation OLEDs first and then 10 generation OLEDs.

Will the tight supply of OLED panels improve in 2018? LG display (LGD), a South Korean panel manufacturer, decided to spend 10 trillion won (US $8.9 billion) to build the world's largest OLED panel production base.

LGD plans to build a P10 plant in Paju, South Korea, to produce large-scale OLED panels for TV and small and medium-sized OLED panels for mobile devices. It is expected that 70% of its capacity will be small and medium-sized OLED panels. With 14 football fields, P10 is the largest OLED production base in the world. LGD plans to spend 10 trillion won, the highest investment amount of a single panel factory. P10 plant is scheduled to be put into operation in the first half of 2018.

For large OLED panels, LGD has not yet decided to invest in 10 generations of LCD or OLED panels. LG Group senior staff said that LGD can use liquid crystal production equipment to manufacture OLED panels, so it has not yet decided to make liquid crystal panels or OLED panels first.
